Former Police Detective Chosen as Conservative Candidate for By-Election

Retired police detective Charlotte Cadden has been selected as the Conservative Party candidate for the Gorton and Denton by-election.

Key Campaign Issues

Cadden said her main priorities include investigating grooming gangs, removing carbon taxes, and improving safety in schools and public services.

She has worked for 30 years in both Greater Manchester Police and the Metropolitan Police.

Focus on Women’s Safety

Cadden is a supporter of single-sex spaces and has been involved in campaigns addressing workplace equality and discrimination.

She said public services had been influenced by social theories that risked the safety of women and girls.

Party Support

Conservative Party chairman Kevin Hollinrake praised her leadership and said she would fight to protect vulnerable communities.

In the previous election, Labour won the seat with a strong majority, while Conservatives finished fifth. Cadden said her campaign would focus on long-term change and rebuilding trust with voters.
